Random Updates

Life has been busy. Hear are a few random updates about the family.

Race Weekend - Race weekend is here at Bristol Motor speedway and the town goes nuts. All the hotels fill up and all the restaurants are packed. A guy at work saw Kid Rock in a restaurant last night. The locals say to stay home until the race starts tomorrow night, then Johnson City will be a ghost town.

Kemery has mastered the stairs....atleast going up. The scary part is the stairs that go to the bedrooms upstairs are long and hardwood. So, we'll be purchasing a baby gate quickly. She's very suttle and very quick. She's half-way up before you know it so you have to watch out!

Hillary and Carter love their new school. Even though you go for an hour longer. Lunch can be eaten in the classroom if you brown bag it. There is no recess after lunch, you just go back to class. They only have one recess but it is later in the afternoon for 45 minutes or so. The kids are really enjoying learning a different language. They come home each day and talk about all the Spanish they have learned. I'm pretty impressed with how much they are retaining. They are making friends and enjoy walking to and from school without adult supervision. (it's really close).

All three of the kids are signed up for soccer. Hillary is the only one who has been to a practice yet because of rain. However, Hillary's coach has 3 practices a week. I guess they take their soccer seriously here. Whitney has never played in a league but was very excited to go to her first practice. Too bad it was rained out. :(

Chari has been called to be the ward pianist. She thinks she'll try to learn the organ now but that will take some time. This will be quite interesting as I am out traveling two of the four Sundays of the month. We already have lots of volunteers to help with Kemery during that time so that is good.

I'm mowing my grass every 5 days here and it is still a forest. Does anyone have a riding mower they aren't using???? They try to use the natural grass here which causes some issues. I have 4 different types of grass (if you could call it that) growing together. If it were my lawn in Utah, I would call it crabgrass and probably would have killed it by now. But out here its apparently normal because most of the neighborhood looks the same so I just mow it and move on.

Carter has a loose tooth in the front that is dangling now. He won't let anybody pull it but he won't do it himself. Perhaps the tooth fairy will take it in his sleep and leave a little extra for his troubles. Maybe I need to feed him a sugar daddy and hope the caramel will yank it out.

We're down to two rooms and the entry left to paint. You could say our motivation is gone because we have painted until our hands and fingers ache. We'll get there, just slower than we thought.

We finally got a web cam and would be interested in hooking up with anyone that would like to chat from time to time. Please let us know...

That's all I can think of for now. We'll update again soon.

You know, you could just tear the lawn out and spring for an artificial one. No mowing, watering, or weeding.
