In the 4 years we previously lived in Lehi, we never went to the outdoor pool. It wasn't even open for the 1st two years, and once it was, we had our pass to the Legacy Center (local Rec. center) so we always went to the pool there.
Even though we have only been temporary residents of Lehi again, we picked up a month by month pass at the Legacy Center so we could swim and workout. So, the kids have been back to the Legacy Center pool many times this summer. Well, our ward had an activity at the outdoor pool last week and we attended. The kids had such a blast on the diving boards. Then, this past week, the Legacy Center pool has been closed and they opened the Lehi Outdoor Pool to all Legacy Center members so Chari has taken the kids several times. Then on Saturday (last day of the free pass), we went one more time as a family. The kids have gotten very brave going off both the low and high dives. Hillary has tried to perfect her dives off the low dive. Carter is all about the flips. He has even flipped off the high dive several times, but doesn't quite have the rotation under control. He over rotates and belly flops each time. We have some video of that. Whitney got into the action this past Saturday and made her way off the low dive many times...just so long as Brian or Hillary were there to help her swim back to the side. She asked if she were ready for the high dive but Dad says she has to be able to swim back to the side on her own. She did try to dive but it was more of a belly flop...and she always keeps her nose plugged. I told her if she wants to dive, she has to learn to not plug her nose but she seems to like it better. Even Dad got into the act with a few swan dives. Then Carter talked me into doing a flip and like father like son...I over rotated the flip and belly flopped on my my side. Been wishing for a chiropractor ever since.
The kids love the outdoor pool and ask to go every day, mostly for the diving boards. Hopefully the Layton pool has a diving pool! Here are some pictures and video of the family skills!
