Summer In a Nutshell

This summer has been a little unusal for our family. After moving back to Utah from Tennessee, we had plans to get a job and buy a house within a few weeks of being home. That plan has failed us miserably so we are making the best of it.
Brian had two job offers within a few days of being back and after some countering back and forth and weighing the pros and cons, he took a job with the CAO group. That lasted all of 3 days and he couldn't work for a company that treated their employees in the way he had been treated. So he resigned and called Sentinel Field Services who had offered him a job as well. After a few weeks and some negotiating, he was hired and started working the beginning of July. Since the job is in Layton, we have been spending the summer trying to move closer. We are in the long and miserable process of buying a short sale home that is taking way too long! In the meantime, the kids have had a ball this summer.
Hillary and Carter are both so glad to have their good friends around again. Carter and Hunter have loved playing together again and Hillary and Katin picked up right where they left off. We have spent time with our family at reunions. The Munro reunion is usually mid-august while my mom is in town. It was fun to see all our cousins again.
We got the chance to spend a day at the Hogle Zoo with our friends the Kershaws. The zoo was doing a special exhibit "Jurassic Zoo" and the kids had fun getting sprayed by dinosaurs throughout the zoo. The kids had some fascination with animal excrement as they watched an elephant relieve herself. That led to exploring all the other animals pooping habits. Fun stuff.
We spent much of the summer in the water. We only got out on the lake once and the kids had a ball on the new tube. Kemery didn't ever want to get off. We splashed in grandma's backyard small pool with friends and discovered the splash pad in Highland with friends as well. That led to a HUGE waterfight that even the mom's got into.
We also spent some time at the Gateway children's museum with our friends, the Stanley's.
Because my mom was here, we got to celebrate her birthday with her as well.
It's been an interesting, frustrating summer filled with adventure and sheer boredom as the kids dealt with living without their favorite toys. We are grateful to grandma and grandpa for letting us stay here while we are getting a place of our own.

Yeah for summer and boo-hoo that the fun times have been traded for school buses, homework, and all that stuff!
