New House - Sort of....

Well, we've been in our house for over a month, but are just finally getting around to sharing some pictures on the blog. When we started looking for houses in the summer, we had several "rules" we were going to follow. One of which was absolutely no short sales! We even told our realtor, no short sales. After taking a few housing hunting trips, we just weren't in love with anything. Then we found this house and it felt right from the first visit. It met all of our wish list requirements...close to my work, neighborhood with lots of kids, rambler with a finished basement, 5 bedrooms, fenced yard, etc. The only hard rule it broke was it was a short sale! It had been empty for 7 or 8 months so the yard was dead but otherwise it was in great shape. There were no offers on the home at the time and the price was low so we decided to make an offer. The listing realtor felt this would go very quickly so we went for it. We continued looking for other houses but it just never worked out. We decided to stick it out with this home and in the end, we learned a lot of patience as a 2 week expected turnaround turned out to be 2 months. But, we have loved it so far, and given Chari's experience of being called to be YW president after 3 weeks in the ward, we can see that perhaps there was a purpose in us being in this specific home. Our realtor(s) and lending agent were very kind and sponsored an open house for us last weekend. We forgot to pull the camera out and take pictures (yeah...we're losers) so we decided to take some pictures while it was not a mess and get them out on the Blog. Thanks to everyone that came to the open house! And to everyone....come visit soon!
