Field of Dreams

"This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that was once good, and it could be good again. Oh people will come. People will most definitely come."

Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa. On the way home, we made a detour into Dyersville Iowa to see the Field of Dreams movie site. We have been there once before and really enjoyed it. The kids weren't very old last time so we thought it would be nice to see it again. The kids had not seen the movie so they had no idea why it was neat to be there. The highlight for them was to know that famous people had been there, like Darth Vader and Mufasa (really just James Earl Jones but that stuck a chord with them). They got to see parts of the movie when we got home though and liked it even more.

We were reading some of the facts about the movie and one that I thought was kinda funny was that the corn wasn't growing well, it was too dry so the producers managed to get an irrigation system going that helped the corn quickly. Then when it came time to film, the corn was too high and they had to place risers in the rows so you could still the ghosts as they walked in.

There is something about Iowa though, always has been for us. It is one of those places that just feels like home.

Leaving town there is a huge tank that we really enjoy playing on. We couldn't get Kemery off. Everytime we got her down, she'd try to climb up again. She loved it as much as all the other kids, including Brian.
