Wisconsin

We planned our family vacation to be in Wisconsin this year over the 4th of July. We headed out as planned, then, as often happens on trips, things go wrong. We hit a nasty back up that went for about 5 miles, but we moved an average of 1 mile per hour. Finally we got to a place where we could turn around, get off the freeway, and take some back roads past whatever the problem was. Back on the road, Kemery chose not to nap the entire drive! She had a little game that she thought was hilarious! She'd drop her blanket on the side of her seat, then scream "DAD!" and he'd have to get it for her. Over and over she did this, all the while Brian was trying to drive the car! It was getting later and later and we were still far from my parents, Kemery still not sleeping, then suddenly...BLECH!!! Whitney got car sick and threw up all over herself and the back of my hair and seat. Gotta stop again to clean up. At last, at 5:00 am, we made it to my parents where we crashed until noon.

They live just one house away from a park and the kids played there every chance they had. Brian taught them to be daredevils and climb on top of the monkey bars and jump from the swings. They came back sandy every time, but love it!

We had planned on fireworks, but the mosquitos were so bad we could only stand a few minutes, even with bug spray on and we had to go in. Then it rained and rained, so finally on July 7th we managed to finish up fireworks. Kemery could hear the fireworks and didn't like the noise. She kept saying, "POP" over and over. Even days later, she'd point out the window and ask, "pop?" We had to keep reassuring her there were no more pops.

Toads are all over there and we caught one and played with it for a while. It kept excreting something nasty all over Brian though. But it was fun to watch it jump around. Not something you see here.

I got a new camera so I went a little picture happy with it. I came home with 560 pictures so I'll try to narrow it down into slide shows of each part of the trip.
