Quick Update

Well, we are homeless again, as of Thursday. On the day of closing, Brian and I both woke up a little nervous about the water leaks we had seen at our final inspection. There was water in the garage, crawlspace, and kitchen. As the day went on, we were getting more and more uneasy about it all. At breakfast, I felt ill when I thought about closing that afternoon. Not a good sign. We talked to our realtor who got some professional foundation people in to look at it and they both said it was not good. So, instead of going to closing, we sat down and signed papers to terminate the contract immediately. We felt such a weight lifted after that! Now the problem of being homeless comes up yet again. Brian's company had gone way beyond what they needed to do. They allowed us to stay in the apartment again for two more weeks and even pay for it! However, now our time is up and we need to get out of here.
We have another house that we plan to make an offer on tomorrow and hope we can push the closing through fast. The frustrating part of it all is that it's the one we originally made an offer on. Had we just stuck with that one, we'd be moved in a week ago and there would have been far less stress!
We have run some numbers and figure it would cost us about $2500 for hotels and food for 3 weeks. That's pricey! So our next solution is to send me and the kids to my parents in Wisconsin for 2-3 weeks, stick Brian in a cheap hotel, and I'll come back in time to close. Hopefully he can come up for the 4th of July and spend a long weekend with us. The kids are going crazy here! They are cooped up, can't make noise, can't run around. It's rough on all of us.

Bummer. Hope everthing goes okay with the new offer. It will be nice to get your kids out of a hotel and spend some time with grandma.
